Sweet Bookmarks

Children are always fascinated by storybooks and halfway through it, they nail the art of sleeping. Well, we’ll be creating a creative bookmark so you don’t have to worry about where to start the next day. Let’s look at the steps.

Invite your child to draw hearts all over a sheet of thick paper with oil-based markers; demonstrate if necessary. Now let them dry and then paint inside them with a layer of watercolors. Make sure the shades are as diverse as possible for the aesthetic. After it dries, cut off a 2×6-inch strip from the page and punch holes on the top. Take colorful and shiny ribbons and tie a knot through those punched holes. Tada! Your bookmark is all set to be sandwiched between those pages. Add a personal touch by writing a message on the back, such as “I love you” or “I’ll wait for you”. A perfect Valentines Day craft.

 

 

Marbled Messages

Do you know the key to a strong emotional connection that can significantly help to sustain a relationship? You guessed it correctly, Communication! We can always add a slice of creativity for some goofy message-passing. Take a large tray and spread shaving cream (not gel) all across it. Invite your child to drizzle five to seven drops of food coloring onto the shaving cream. Take a toothpick or chopsticks to swirl the whole mixture so that it creates a complicated color pattern. Now take a piece of white paper and press it onto this tray so that the colored shaving cream gets imprinted on it. Pick up the sheet and scrape off the cream with a ruler or similar object, not to smudge the color pattern on the sheet. Now cut a rectangle out of it and fold it in half. This would be a valentine’s card! Write “My heart is in a swirl” inside. Out of the rest of the paper, cut out a few heart shapes and decorate the card.

Flower-Power Pendants

Blooming fragrant flowers are one of the best ways to express emotions, be it an apology, or care, and of course, LOVE! How about we make some flower pendants for your child? Take a short cup and fill it up with 3 Tbs. liquid dish soap, 1 Tbs. water, and 2 Tbs. acrylic paint, and mix it all. Now put a straw into it and invite your child to blow through it. Puffy bubbles! Now gently press a piece of paper onto the bubbles to make an impression. Use different pages, different colors, and different sizes of bubbles. Once it’s done, let it dry. Cut flower shapes out of it and punch a small hole in it. Use a thread or a string to make it into a necklace. Wanna make it look more vivacious? Use neon cords instead of a regular string. Of course, you may write a cute little note like “You’re the best” or “My valentine” on the back too!

Clay Play

Clays are squishy and so non-messy at the same time. It’s a great tool to keep the creativity rolling. And we can mold them into absolutely anything! Roll a small ball of Model Magic (the size of a ping-pong). Press your fingers into it gently and make a small cavity. Add a drop of food color in the center and evenly spread it all across the area. Use your hand muscles to flatten the ball. Cut the disc into a heart shape while using your fingers to evenly polish the edges and the curves. Take a few letter stamps, dip them into ink and press them into the Model Magic heart. Let it dry and use it as a showpiece. Looks pretty right?

To extend the craft, glue a pin at the back of this model and let it dry. Now you may use it as a badge!

 

Handprint Valentines

Cards always have special importance on all occasions. It’s warmer and more personal than the other ready-made gifts. We can also use this trick to enhance your child’s emotional intelligence with the additional spark of creativity! Take a construction paper and trace both your child’s hands using a pencil. Cut these outlines out and stick them together. Cut two additional small heart cut-outs as well and paste them between the two hand cut-outs. It looks like a creative card that can be folded right? Feel free to add pleasing and heart-melting messages inside.

 

Valentine’s day is not just for couples. It stands valid and celebrated for unrequited love, love for your friends, and the exceptional bond between a child and a parent!
