What is so special about this journal cover. That is what we thought as well!

Our thoughts changed when we heard from a parent about her experience. The parent was surprised by her little one when he came running and hugged her all of a sudden. And then she realized that the child had seen the cover image of the parent journal that was part of the Totto Learning Pack. That got us thinking. For a child, everything is a learning experience. Every touch, everything that they see, every experience, every word adds to their learning and development.

Everything that we provide to a parent, be it for the consumption of the child or the consumption of the parent was an opportunity for us to teach positive values to the child.

That is when we decided that the total cover images are not going to be ordinary ones they are going to tell a story. A story of compassion, a story of equality, a story of inclusion, a story of positive social values, and more.

Not just one type of family!

Father, mother, and 2 children are not the only type of family that is out there! Having a single parent is ok! Shouldn’t our children learn this early on? Isn’t this a key part of their social and emotional development in the 21st century? That is why we have cover images of different types of families in our journals.

Parenting is not a mom’s job alone!

Modern households are equal responsibility households. Childcare and cooking are no longer a ‘mom’s world’ alone. Our children should see the difference and grow. We should not let stereotypes grow in them based on what they see around us. That is why we have images of dads cooking and doing childcare on our cover images.

Every child is equal!

Every storybook, every children’s publication has the picture of completely healthy children on them. Ever imagined what it would mean for a child who has a disability? Wouldn’t they feel left out? Wouldn’t they feel ‘not normal’? Let’s change that! Let’s send a message to all children that having a disability is normal! Being ‘different’ is normal!

Breaking Stereotypes

Breaking stereotypes starts at home! It is equally important to ensure they see understand the differences. Lessons of inclusion and equality start early on in life! Let’s use all the micro-interactions that children get to enhance their positive values!
